Terms and Conditions
  1. Collect Shipments
    All shipments are accepted on a "bill shipper" basis unless pre-arranged with Helix Courier Limited.
  2. Pre-Scheduled In-town Pick-ups (Time Calls)
    Pre-scheduled pick-ups will be performed at times and rates as arranged by the customer with Helix Courier Limited. Pick-ups called at any other time will be subject to regular rates. If no shipment is available at the agreed pick-up time, a "no-service" fee of at least $5.00 will apply. If the shipper calls Helix at least 1 hour prior to the scheduled pick-up time to cancel the pickup, the "no-service" fee will be waived
  3. Insurance
    Shipments are automatically insured up to a value of $200.00. If a higher value is declared on the waybill, an additional charge of $6.00 per $100.00 or part thereof on declared value in excess of $200.00 will be applied to a maximum value of $1,000.00. Shipper shall have sole responsibility for insuring his goods above the maximum $1,000.00 available from carrier.
  4. Limitation Of Liability
    The amount of any loss to which the carrier is liable shall not exceed $2.00 per pound or $4.41 per kilogram, computed on total weight of shipment. Where no declared value has been specified, the carriers maximum liability will be up to a maximum weight of 100 lbs or, if higher value has been declared and a corresponding insurance fee charged, to a maximum of 500 lbs.. In no event shall the carriers liability exceed $1,000.00.Helix Courier Limited cannot insure the following commodities under any circumstances:
    • tenders
    • antiques
    • currency
    • precious metals or stones, glass or glassware, ceramics household goods
    • travellers cheques
    • works of art
    • liquor, wine, spirits, tobacco, cigars, cigarettes
    • stocks, bonds, bullion, money orders
    • stamps, jewellery, watches
    • cashier's cheques
    • plants
    • liquids, perishables, furs

    All computer, electronic goods and the like must be in original manufacturer's packaging. If packaging is damaged in transit, it must be so noted upon delivery. Claims made on shipments signed for in good order will not be processed. Claimant agrees that notwithstanding any disclosure of the nature or value of the goods, the amount of any loss or damage, including consequential, incidental or indirect damage, loss of earnings or profits resulting from the loss of or damage to the goods, shall not exceed the maximum liability as set out above. The carrier shall not be liable for any loss, damage or delay with respect to shipments containing documents which must be delivered within a certain time or by a certain date, including but not limited to, price quotations, tenders, bids or other contractual offers, whether arising from negligence or otherwise.

  5. Incomplete Address, Outlying Destinations & Beyond
    Helix Courier Limited reserves the right to apply an additional charge to shipments which show the consignee's address as a rural route number, post office box number, or an address which is incomplete, to cover additional costs incurred in locating the consignee. Outlying destinations may incur beyond charges and may require additional time for delivery. Residential delivery surcharge may be in effect.
  6. Dangerous Goods
    Hazardous goods as defined in the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, Section 3, Subsection 3.1-3.10 inclusive will not be accepted for transport unless specifically pre-arranged with Helix Courier Limited.
  7. Brokerage/Surcharges
    For international shipments, duties and brokerage fees may apply for non-document shipments, and may be charged back to the shipper. Deliveries requested for Saturdays and Holidays may be provided at extra charge, depending on availability. Contact Helix Courier Limited for details.
  8. Damage or Loss Claim
    Notice of loss or damage must be given to office staff within 24 hours of the time of delivery. A written notice of intent to claim must be received at Helix Courier Limited, 549 First Street, London, Ontario, N5V 1Z5, within 24 hours of acceptance of the shipment by the Carrier.

    The claim must include:

    • a photocopy of the waybill or Manifest covering the shipment,
    • the reason for the claim (i.e. loss or damage),
    • support documents to show the value of the shipment.
